This blog is about my family table and yours.
I’m a Madison, WI-based pastry chef and journalist.
Growing up in New Jersey, Sundays were for large family meals of macaroni and Sunday gravy– an all-day simmered sauce of tomatoes, basil, meatballs and sausage. In my memory everyone seemed happiest at the table.
We celebrated holidays and birthdays there and those who pulled up a chair were on their best behavior. Typically these meals were followed by cake.
Today, I’m a wife and mother of three adult children. Sharing meals together with my family is important to me. It’s in this way I hope to keep our Italian-American roots strong.
